Objective of the project: Design an individual or a series of sustainable product packages that demonstrate sustainability and consistency in branding while meeting the Canadian labelling requirements. This project focuses on designing sustainable packaging for a fictional skincare brand. In light of the growing pollution problem in the skincare industry, there’s a strong push for companies to adopt eco-friendly packaging practices. Bloom embodies this by offering organic, homemade skincare products packaged in a way that emphasizes recycling and reusability.
Bloom is a sustainable skincare brand targeting eco-conscious teens and young adults. To attract this audience, the brand uses soothing pastel colours, trendy doodle-style illustrations of natural ingredients, and characters with relatable backstories emphasizing self-care and mental well-being. This design approach helps Bloom connect emotionally with young consumers, aligning with their values of sustainability and self-care while offering visually appealing, Instagram-worthy packaging.
As the designer working on the Bloom project, my personal goals were to create packaging that not only promotes sustainability but also appeals to the target audience of teens and young adults. I aimed to design visually engaging packaging using trendy pastel colours and doodle patterns that resonate with young consumers while integrating storytelling elements through characters to foster a deeper emotional connection. It was important to balance aesthetics with functionality, ensuring the packaging was both visually appealing and practical. Overall, I wanted the design to convey Bloom's core values of sustainability, self-care, and clean beauty in a way that felt fresh and relevant to modern youth culture.
